New MELSEC iQ5-F FX5U

The FX5U gives the FX a performance boost and adds features that set benchmark standards for compact PLCs. It enables users to develop more complex and sophisticated automation systems, as well as higher performance applications, without having to migrate to a larger and more costly PLC family. At the same time, programming through the same GX Works software used for other controllers in the Mitsubishi Electric range supports scalability.

Outstanding Performance

Embedded Ethernet port - Access to Ethernet networks increases connectivity to other devices and provides access to data for making real time decisions.

Built-in SD card slot - The FX5U has the capability to upload and download programs, store data, and authenticate security from an SD card.

Large memory capacity - Increased memory allows for more complex programs, and increased capacity for comments, labels and data logging.

Embedded analog - The FX5U provides low cost, simple PID control.to upload and download programs, store data, and authenticate security from an SD card.

Superior Drive Control

Inverter control - Control up to 16 Mitsubishi inverters over RS-485 using dedicated inverter communication instructions. It is simple to read/write parameters, monitor, and control networked Mitsubishi inverters with the FX5U.

Positioning - The FX5U comes with built-in capacity for 200kHz high speed inputs and outputs. This provides the capability to control up to 4 axes of positioning with stepper or servo motors. The FX5U is a cost effective solution for interrupt operation, multistage speed operation, simple linear interpolation, and simultaneous start of 2 axes.

Simple Motion module - The Simple Motion module (FX5-40SSC-S) provides motion functionality for up to 4 axes of motion over SSCNET III/H. This compact controller has the capability for applications that require advanced synchronous control, cam control, and speed‑torque control

Connectivity

The FX5U offers simple connection options to a wide range of automation equipment, including Mitsubishi Electric servos and inverters, Cognex vision systems, networks and energy meters, with reduced wiring effort and no additional programming

Analogue and PID

With 2 analogue inputs and 1 analogue output as standard, and with improved PID performance, users have a low cost means of implementing sophisticated functions at low cost and without the need for additional hardware.

Positioning

The FX5 includes Mitsubishi Electric´s Simple Motion Unit as an intelligent function module, providing the ability to perform sophisticated motion control for up to 4 axes. Functions include linear interpolation, circular interpolation, positioning control, synchronised control, encoder following and electronic cam.

Software-based synchronous control can be used as an alternative to mechanical control, such as gear, shaft, transmission and cam. In addition, cam control is even easier with cam auto-generation. Synchronous control can be simply operated (start/stop) for each axis, allowing synchronous and positional control axes within the same program.

Built-in Ethernet

With Ethernet communications included as standard, users can easily set up communications with other Ethernet-enabled systems and the higher level enterprise, and perform remote data monitoring over the internet plus use the SNTP function (time synchronization from a time server via a network).
